Piano Birthday Card

Piano Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!  Last week had been a busy week for me.  Three birthdays (all on the same day), dental procedures and a bridal shower and practice hair appointment for one of my dearest friends.  Did I say busy???  I had cards to make, gifts to find, projects to alter… and of course I wait till the last minute to do anything… oh well, I work best under pressure :-)

I’ll start with one of the birthday girls, my sister.  She has been excited to see what I would create for her birthday.  This was the first year I made her a birthday card.  She sees all the cards and projects that I make.  I was nervous.  What was she expecting?  Fancy?  Plain?  Colorful? Artsy?  Personal?  Who knew?  I didn’t.   I couldn’t decide on what I was going to do for her.  She’s a pretty easy-going kinda gal.  Loves anything you give her but creating something just for her seemed daunting.  After many ideas I finally decided on a theme and went for it.

She loved my dad’s violin card that I made him a few weeks back.  It seemed to be her favorite so I figured I would create something similar for her using a piano.  She is musically inclined.  Aside from having a beautiful singing voice she taught herself how to play guitar and piano and wants to learn the saxophone next.  Amazing?  Yes she is.  So  here’s the card I made:

What I used:

  • Black card stock base, A2 size
  • Sprayed card base front with Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer
  • Used blue pattern paper found on the Imagine More Cartridge. Page 37 (left)  Trimmed the left and right edges a smidge to fit.
  • Cut black cardstock mat
  • Used sheet music patter paper  also found on Imagine More Cartridge.  Page 38 (right)

*Frames of Blue pattern paper, black mat, and sheet music are cut from Baby Boutique Imagine Cartridge.  Page 7 (bottom) Inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye

  • Piano image from Cricut Cartridge Quarter Note, page  46.  Used Black cardstock (shifted image), blue DCWV textured cardstock (base image) (popped up on foam tape)
  • Applied glossy accents all over the shifted piano image to appear highly polished
  • applied a strip of small clear crystals for the piano keys and placed various sizes of clear crystals on the piano cut flourishes and framed the corners with large crystals
  • Sentiment printed on blue pattern paper, same as frame using my computer.  Cut into banner and popped up on foam tape.

She liked it.  It sits proudly atop her piano.  I also made an altered project for her gift from Blake and Kierstin.  I will share that with you later this week.

Thank you for checking in with me.  Follow me by email and “like” me on facebook.  Give a way coming soon!  See you in the next post.
