I covered the island with a yellow plastic tablecloth and then cut a purple plastic tablecloth down to make a runner and placed it on top of the yellow.  I picked them both up at the Dollar Tree.  From the left over pieces I covered our table.

I made both cakes, cupcakes and cake pops.  I used this recipe for the cakes.  The Icing recipe I used can be found here.  I tinted the icing with Wilton’s  Buttercup yellow.

The cake pops used the left over cake that I had and I used Betty Crocker’s Cream Cheese Icing to bind the cake to make the cake pop balls.  I then dipped them in Wilton’s candy coating disks that you can pick up at craft or cake decor places.  I placed them in a Yellow container found at the Dollar Tree.  Inside the white tissue paper is a foam rectangle used in flower arrangements.  This helped to hold the cake pops.

I used the left over table cloths here and I had a few extra balloons that I made into a center piece.  I also hung a tissue paper pom-pom from the light fixture.  I made several of them that you see in various places.  They are made with yellow and purple tissue paper found at the Dollar Tree.  You can see how to make them here.

A look the spread.  We had Cake, cupcakes, cake pops, pineapple and grapes ( yellow and purple), chips and ranch dip, pickles, and a deli sandwich spread along with ice cream and rainbow sherbet.

Yellow and purple plates, napkins, forks, spoons and cups… all from, you guessed it, the Dollar Tree.  I served, soft drinks, water, strawberry lemonade and plain lemonade to drink.

The cake is iced in an ombre effect darkest on the bottom to a lighter yellow on top in many rosettes that cover the cakes.  You can see how to do this here.

I made the balloon flowers from this tutorial.  Man my fingers were sore from making these.

Here is a screen shot of what my cutting mat looked like before sending to the printer.  Remember this is a print and cut so my printer will only take up to a 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock so first choose your paper size under the page section. Then make sure to click to show registration marks before placing images on your virtual mat and keep images within the marks.  When satisfied with your images send your images to your printer to be printed.  When finished printing place on your cutting mat and send to your silhouette to cut.  Before sending to silhouette double check your cut lines, you only need your edges cut (outline should be in red).  Any questions, please ask!

Here is a little more information about what I did in the Silhouette Software.  In this screen shot you should be able, or at least I hope you can, understand what I did.  If not please ask questions.

If you choose to have the Silhouette to cut these out, once you have the images all layered together make sure to check your cut lines.  You want ONLY the outer rectangle of the invite to have a red cut line, everything inside the invite should not have red lines unless you want these areas cut out of the invite.  You will also want to set the page registration marks before sending to your printer.  These were simple straight cuts so I just used my paper trimmer and this gave me the options to cut the invite to the size I wanted based on the mats I used.

So what do you think?  I love it.  I used to do a lot of simple jewelry making way before I started in the paper crafting world.  I have only done a few small / easy jewelry pieces in the last year… my it was like I was just learning how to create a wire loop dangle all over.  Anyway, using my love for the My Minds Eye Sunshine papers and my love for accessories this project is a fav.

Supplies:

• Ornate silver small rectangle bezel pendant
• My Minds Eye Lost and Found 2 – Sunshine paper
• 1 Mound Flower Mum cabochon cameo flat back 14 mm in deep burgundy (not carried by store owner  anymore but similar in her shop)
• 2 Light Colorado Topaz Swarovski Bicone Beads 6mm
• 2 head pins 
• 5 jump rings in small, med and one large
• chain (snake chain/ball chain)
• Jewelry tools – flat chain nose pliers and round tip pliers (you can find in the craft areas of stores)
• Glossy Accents
• E6000 Glue (you can find in the craft areas of stores) or you can use ModPodge
• Recollections Charm or any charm you like
• Recollections small adhesive back rhinestones

What do you think?  Cute huh?  This basket is the perfect size for a few treats.  Even with the weight of all the candy the handle still feel secure using the brads.  If you have the Silhouette this is a great cut to have in your library.  There are so many times and uses you use this basket and the flowers are a bonus cut you can use over and over.

I am still a very novice sewer.  I have always been around sewing machines but when it comes to sewing I’m self-taught.  I have only completed a few projects in the past six years that I’ve owned my very own sewing machine.   Not that I don’t like to sew, I do, I love it, it’s just a chore to get everything ready and then I want to be able to have enough time to complete the project at hand before I pack anything up for the day just to keep from dragging things out again.  But first I have to clean off my kitchen island… this is my sewing station.  I keep all my sewing items in a TV armoire that I turned into a sewing cabinet.

After cleaning all the junk off the island (the universal catch-all station it seems) I then I set up for the fun.

Once I have everything out and in place I am in a zone…. until the seam ripper has to make an appearance then I’m ready to get the project done…. I don’t know what it is but having to rip the stitching out of your project,  annoying,  but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I know the lining is a bit bright but I had this left over from my Christmas Stocking I made for myself that I showed here.  I thought it would be cute here too.  I used a great tutorial to aid me through this first ever purse!  Please check out the pleated purse tutorial here.  I did modify the purse to have only one shoulder strap.  I find that with a double handle purse, one strap is always falling down so I changed that part.  I also added interfacing to the lining and outside fabrics.

I did have to break out the old seam ripper.  I was sewing up a storm and forgot to leave a space in the lining to turn the purse out.  All in all a pretty easy tutorial.  This was my first attempt at pleats too!  Taking your time and going slow is my word of advice along with checking back at the tutorial with each step.  The only thing I will do when I have my sewing machine out again is to add a magnetic button to the lining.  With the one strap the bag tends to gape open so a snip in the bottom seam of the  lining will allow an easy time in adding this closure.

Hope you enjoyed seeing this sewing project and I hope to have more sewing projects to show soon.   By the way, anyone know the reason I HAD to have a sewing machine????  Any guesses?  To make cloth diapers for my son.  Bet you didn’t think that would be the answer.  Yes I did make several and they did work but those little tushie coverings are not the easiest to sew if you have never really sewn before.
