Piano Birthday Card

Piano Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!  Last week had been a busy week for me.  Three birthdays (all on the same day), dental procedures and a bridal shower and practice hair appointment for one of my dearest friends.  Did I say busy???  I had cards to make, gifts to find, projects to alter… and of course I wait till the last minute to do anything… oh well, I work best under pressure :-)

I’ll start with one of the birthday girls, my sister.  She has been excited to see what I would create for her birthday.  This was the first year I made her a birthday card.  She sees all the cards and projects that I make.  I was nervous.  What was she expecting?  Fancy?  Plain?  Colorful? Artsy?  Personal?  Who knew?  I didn’t.   I couldn’t decide on what I was going to do for her.  She’s a pretty easy-going kinda gal.  Loves anything you give her but creating something just for her seemed daunting.  After many ideas I finally decided on a theme and went for it.

She loved my dad’s violin card that I made him a few weeks back.  It seemed to be her favorite so I figured I would create something similar for her using a piano.  She is musically inclined.  Aside from having a beautiful singing voice she taught herself how to play guitar and piano and wants to learn the saxophone next.  Amazing?  Yes she is.  So  here’s the card I made:

What I used:

  • Black card stock base, A2 size
  • Sprayed card base front with Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer
  • Used blue pattern paper found on the Imagine More Cartridge. Page 37 (left)  Trimmed the left and right edges a smidge to fit.
  • Cut black cardstock mat
  • Used sheet music patter paper  also found on Imagine More Cartridge.  Page 38 (right)

*Frames of Blue pattern paper, black mat, and sheet music are cut from Baby Boutique Imagine Cartridge.  Page 7 (bottom) Inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye

  • Piano image from Cricut Cartridge Quarter Note, page  46.  Used Black cardstock (shifted image), blue DCWV textured cardstock (base image) (popped up on foam tape)
  • Applied glossy accents all over the shifted piano image to appear highly polished
  • applied a strip of small clear crystals for the piano keys and placed various sizes of clear crystals on the piano cut flourishes and framed the corners with large crystals
  • Sentiment printed on blue pattern paper, same as frame using my computer.  Cut into banner and popped up on foam tape.

She liked it.  It sits proudly atop her piano.  I also made an altered project for her gift from Blake and Kierstin.  I will share that with you later this week.

“A Stitch In Time” Card

“A Stitch In Time” Card

Hi Everyone!  I wanted to share a card that I worked on last night and finished up this morning.  I’ve been wanting to use a pattern paper found on the Cricut Imagine Heirloom Cartridge that had dress forms on it with a very vintage feel.  I also wanted to try to use my sewing machine and incorporate some stitching on a card.  What better way to be encouraged than to see a challenge posted over at Cardz TV,  A stitch in time.  Well, that’s all I needed to get started.  Here it is…

It took a little while for me to get my thoughts to work out, images the right size and the final touches.  As you can see I went all out with a vintage feel.  Heavily distressed paper edges using Tim Holtz Distressing tool.  Wrinkled papers and lots of Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and Tea Dye inks.

NO… the skipped stitching wasn’t on purpose but I think it worked out to give the wornout vintage feel.  My sewing machine would skip stitches for some reason…. note to self… find out why it’s skipping stitches.  Sorry, back to the card.

Products used to make this 6×6 card:

  • DCWV textured pink cardstock, base, inked
  • DCWV Garden Party Mat Stack, brown/pink doted mat, distressed, inked
  • Cricut imagine Heirloom Cartridge, dress form pattern paper, distressed, inked, edges wrinkled and rolled
  • Cricut Imagine, imagine More Cartridge, Frame cut only found on bottom page 15.  Cut on Brown/pink dotted paper (same as mat paper), distressed, inked
  • Ivory embroidery floss, wrapped around frame, inked lightly
  • Cricut Wall Decor and More cartridge, page 74, dress form shifted image cut using DCWV pink card stock, embossed with Tim Holtz Alterations Flourish folder, inked over and edges inked
  • Ivory Pearls to embellish dress form stand, inked over lightly
  • foam squares pop the dress form up over floss
  • Sentiment printed from computer on Ivory DCWV Card stock, wrinkled, distressed, inked, popped up on foam squares
  • Singer sewing machine, zig zag stitch… some skipped stitches, using brown thread to stitch around pattern papers

I think that’s it.  Hope you like it.  I love how it turned out.  Thanks for checking in with me. “Follow Me” if you haven’t already.  I’m also on facebook, stop over “like” and say Hi.  See you in the next post.

“You’re Sweet” Valentine’s Treat Bag

“You’re Sweet” Valentine’s Treat Bag

Hi everyone.  I wanted to share the treat bags that I made to give to my Puggles.

Our church offers a children’s program called Awana.  Awana helps the kids learn scripture verses in many fun ways.  They are broke up by ages.  I help a wonderful lady teach the 2 year olds.  Now they don’t memorize verses at this age.  Our focus is on creation… “God made everything” and “God is love.”  So for Valentines Ms. Christy and I wanted to give our Puggles a little something for Valentines day.

Here is what I came up with.  I used My Pink Stampers, Pinkalicous Blog Hop Challenge to make these bags.  I was following the Blog Hop (here) at the same time I was going to put these together.  I didn’t know what I was going to do yet so I thought, hey, I’ll join in the challenge.  It was fun to see how they turned out with the challenge requirements:

Tonight’s Challenge: Use the color red, a circle, a pink ribbon and MORE THAN ONE  My Pink Stamper stamp. (If you don’t own any of my stamp sets yet, that is okay!  Use what you have).
Also, use a die cut with this challenge!  Anything will work!

So here it is

Red:  Treat bag/card stock circle  Circle:  Punched 1 1/4 inch circles for stamped sentiment using red card stock/scallop circle  Pink:  ribbon/pink card stock scallop circle  My Pink Stamper Stamp:  I don’t own one so I used a 97 cent stamp from Wal-Mart  Die-cut:  Scallop circle cut from Imagine More pg 16 using the Cricut Imagine

“Just For You” Elephant Card and Gift Card Holder

“Just For You” Elephant Card and Gift Card Holder

Hi everyone!  Today I thought I would share with you my “Just For You” Elephant Card and Gift Card Holder.  I made this to give to my secret sister.  I know she loves elephants and I wanted to make one that looked elegant.

I am pleased with the look of the card.  Elle could have been popped up on double pop dots… her ears get lost at this angle.

As for the folds for the gift card…. I may have made a wrong turn somewhere but it worked out.  You can see the correct way to make this card by watching this great video tutorial here.  Here’s my card…. sorry, I know this isn’t the best photo :-) .

The elephant is cut from the Cricut Create a Critter cartridge using the Cricut Expression.  I believe she is cut (yes she, there is a bow… haha) at 3 inches.  Edges inked with black Ditto ink.

The gray papers ran through the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug embossing folder using the Cuttlebug.

Bottom gray paper punched using EK Success Threading Water Boarder Punch

Pattern paper from DCWV The Luxury Stack

Gray and black ribbons are from AC Moore

“Just Saying” stamped with black ink

Glossy Accents used on the black of the ears, eyes, mouth and tail… not that you can tell.  Terrible picture!

That’s it.  Hope you like it.  Go check out the Yoliebean’s video tutorials.  She’s great.

Sending Warm Fuzzies Card

Sending Warm Fuzzies Card

Hi everyone!  I thought I would share a card with you I made using the Cricut Create A Critter Cartridge and my Cricut Expression, incase you are looking for ideas for a winter type card.   I used this card as Christmas cards for my Brother and Sister but can be altered to use now.  The penguin has a scarf layer you can cut and replace the lights with the scarf… wa-la, a winter themed card just for you.

I used a standard white A2 size card base.  Layered with DWCV textured green paper with a snowflake pattern paper I purchased from Wal-Mart from their 97 cent area. I inked all papers with brown ink.

I believe the penguin and layers are cut at 3 or 3.5 inches.  I had to play around with sizing.. this guy has a really big head… haha.  I ran the white layer of the penguin through the Divine Swirl CuttleBug embossing folder.  The lights are from the reindeer cut on the Create A Critter.  I really don’t remember the sizing.  It was tricky to get the right size.  I used glossy accents to cover the light bulbs to give them shine as well as using Stickles on the eyes.

I stamped  all over the blue pattern paper and the penguin with a snowflake stamp  also from the 97 cent bin at Wal-Mart using white ink.

I ran a piece of white grosgrain ribbon around the pattern paper and popped the penguin over the ribbon and stamped “sending warm fuzzies” under him in brown ink. I used my ATG gun to adhere everything together.

My First Card Using The Imagine

My First Card Using The Imagine

While trying to work on the design team call projects I came across pictures of cards I’ve made. I think I will share a few with you over the next little while. I really like how they turned out.

Up first is a card I made for… you guessed it, my daddy. This was the first complete card made using my Cricut Imagine and the Imagine More Cards cartridge.

You're just my type

Card base is a cream-colored cardstock cut to A2 size, edges are inked with Color Box brown ink.  The pattern paper is printed and cut from the Imagine More Cards cartridge pg. 42.  I wrapped some black embroidery thread around the pattern paper three times and taped to the back of the paper and I placed three small gun-metal colored brads to the bottom left side of the paper.    I attached the paper to the cardstock using some ATG.  The “You’re Just My Type” image cut in layers from pg. 8, adhered together using Two Way Glue Pen,  typewriter is popped up on foam tape.  I used Glossy Accents to cover the enter typewriter to give it an epoxy type finish.  The “love” badge is from the same cartridge, pg. 14, there is another one on the inside of the card .  All images are inked with the brown ink.

You're Just My Type

What do you think.  I fell in love with my Imagine while working on this card.  So much you can do, so much to learn.

Here it is!

I did it.  I completed my project for the Cardz Tv Challenge #3.

“Just For You,” dressform standard card.  I used the dressform on page 74 of the Cricut Cartridge “Wall Decor and More.”  Cut using the Cricut Imagine.  Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder from “French Connection” on the gray mat.  I used white and black ribbons and rhinestones to add some elegance.  Take a look:

Will I…

Will I…

Hi everyone!  Hope you are all well today.  I thought I would share what I will be trying this weekend.  Something I’ve never thought about before but, hey, why not?

I will be working on a card to submit in the Cardz Tv Challenge.  I know, it’s exciting.  Having to work under pressure to create something and submit it by midnight tomorrow night, yikes!…. Sounds like a lot of time, right?  Not for me!  I take forever to come up with ideas of what I want to do and working them out.  I tend to have other ideas, errors and then my project ends up taking another direction. Tell me that happens to you too, lol.

I don’t have a lot of time on the weekends but I do have an idea and a new Cricut cartridge I want to try out.  So stay tuned to see… 1) will I have time to work on it?  2) will I complete it?  3) will I think it’s worthy of submitting? 4) will I actually submit it?  HaHaHa!

Oh no, the kids are up… time to get movein!  Have a wonderful day!  See you in the next post.  Don’t forget to hit the follow button if you haven’t all ready.  I would love it

BTW, here’s the challenge:  ”Challenge #3 ”The 3 R’s”  Make a card or craft project for any occasion using one or all of the 3 R’s…Ribbon, Rhinestones or Rick Rack.”  FUN!

Some Smash, A little Violin Action and Shrinky Dinks

Some Smash, A little Violin Action and Shrinky Dinks

Hi everyone!  I’m sure you’re all thinking, “what kinda title is this?”  Well, I did a little shopping yesterday.  While at Michael’s I decided I would go ahead and purchase a “Smash Book” and I HAD to have a few accessories to help me “Smash,” right???  I have not made a scrapbook page in my life, I want to.  ”Smashing” seems to be a fun spin off concept.  With coupon in hand I picked it up.

My shopping didn’t stop there.  While looking around I finally found some Shrinky Dinks paper.  If you are not familiar with Shrinky Dinks, it is printable/stampable/colorable PLASTIC that you can cut out using your die cutting machine then bake or use your heat gun to shrink the plastic down.  When it has shrunk (I believe it will shrink to 1/3 of the original size) it becomes a hard plastic embellishment. You can use it in layouts, on cards, even jewelry.  I thought it was pretty cool when I watched Megan Gravner from Above Rubies Studios use it in her Cricut Imagine A-Z video.  I didn’t think I would find it here in my area but, alas, Michael’s had it there on the shelf for me to buy.  (sorry the picture is dark)

Since I was in a buying mood and a little motivated, I picked up a few baby girl sticker sheets, letters and embellishments that were on sale for the day I finally start Kierstin’s baby projects.  I will say I don’t have a thing purchased for any Baby Blake projects… is that bad???  I love him too. :-)

See what I mean about having all kinds of supplies on hand for that day I decide to start a project.

Now on to a little violin action… I made a violin card for my dad.  I used the Cricut cartridge, Quarter Note and a couple of pattern papers printed from the Imagine Heirloom cartridge.  My dad wanted to learn how to play the violin many years ago, he did try his best.  He loved just to look at the violin even though he didn’t play it very well.  He’s much older now, loves to reminisce on things.  When I saw the violin on this cartridge I knew I had to make him a card.  I am happy with how it turned out. I know he will LOVE it…. not just because his baby girl made it for him.  Ok, that may help.  LOL.

Thank you for taking time to check in on me.  See you in the next post.  Oh, don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t all ready.
