Last Minute Silhouette Cameo Christmas Card, Gift Card Holders and a Stocking

Last Minute Silhouette Cameo Christmas Card, Gift Card Holders and a Stocking

Hi everyone!  Hope you all had a great Christmas and are having a happy New Year.  I wanted to quickly share a few photos of other projects I completed just in time for Christmas… literally  just a day or two before Christmas.  If you want any further  details on any of these three items then just leave me a comment and I’ll do a tutorial for you.

The first project was the  Christmas cards that I made for my immediate family.  I did use the Silhouette Cameo to cut the image found from the Silhouette store.  I also used the Cuttlebug with the divine swirls embossing folder.

The next project was a couple of gift card holders.

And last but not least a stocking I made for myself.  I have had the fabric for a couple of months, picked it up at Hobby Lobby.  This fabric was just begging to be used.  I love the color and pattern.  Needing to pick up a couple of stockings for us it occurred to me that this fabric would make a great girly girl stocking.  I love how it turned out.

Hope you enjoyed taking a look at these three projects.  Sorry I don’t have a tutorial post but as I stated, just leave me a comment and I will do a tutorial for you.  Subscribe if you haven’t already.  See you in the next post.

Bridal Shower Card and Gift

Bridal Shower Card and Gift

Hi everyone.  I wanted to share with you a bridal shower card and gift that I put together for a dear sweet friend of mine.  The card will remind you of the “pop top gift can.”  I had planned on using the can as part of the gift but I went another route.  I loved how the card turned out.  What do you think?

For the gift;  I looked over the registry and had an idea.  I saw a batter bowl and a set of spatulas…. instantly thought of brownies.  So I purchased a brownie pan, brownie mix, and chocolate chips in addition to the batter bowl and spatulas.  Placed them together, added shredded paper and the card.  Wrapped it in shrink-wrap and tied it with a bow.  Simple, cute and practical.

“Dream” Butterfly Card

“Dream” Butterfly Card

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you a card I made a few months ago for a DT call.  I loved how it turned out.  Gotta love black, purple, glitter paper and bling!

  • Cut a sheet of black cardstock down to 5 ½ x 8 ½ folded in the middle with a bone folder to make an A2 standard sized card.

  •   Cut a sheet of pattern paper from DCWV, The LUXURY Stack, down to 5 ¼ x 4 inches and inked the edges using black ditto ink.
  •  Cut another black sheet down to 5 x 3 ¾.  Ran through the Cuttlebug using the “Devine Swirl” embossing folder.  Distressed the edges using the Tim Holtz distressing tool.

On the same embossed black paper I spritzed about 3 sprays of “Smooch Spritz” in Vanilla Shimmer.  While that dried a few minutes, I attached the pattern paper to the black cardstock with some ATG.

  •  Cut about 14 inches of sheer silver ribbon, only needed about 8 inches.
  • Wrapped the lower left and upper right corners of the embossed black cardstock with the ribbon and taped down the edges on the back of the card then adhered it to the purple and black pattern paper.

  • Using the Cricut Expression I cut out a couple of butterflies using the Wall Décor and More cartridge, found on page 29.  Cut the shifted image out of the same DCWV pattern paper at 3 inches.  Cut the base layer (frilly cut) out of a purple DCWV Glitter Cardstock, also at 3 inches.  I then cut out a smaller base image, the frilly butterfly, in the same glitter paper at 1.25.
  • I figured my placement of the butterflies and placed down some puffy silver alpha stickers to spell the word “DREAM.”  Not sure whom they are by, I had them in my stash.

  • I attached the larger butterfly together using a strip of ATG just down the center of the butterfly (top to bottom) and placed the glitter piece on top of the pattern cut out.  I bent the wings just slightly and placed a tiny pop dot under the wing to give it some lift.  I placed two foam pop squares on the back of the butterfly and placed o the card.  I bent the wings of the smaller butterfly and placed small pop dot under the head and placed a little Two Way Glue Pen down the rest of the center of the butterfly and attached to the black mat
  • I felt the butterfly and card needed some bling so I attached a few iridescent rhinestone stickers by “Recollections” in a few places.  Three larger ones down the middle of the larger butterfly and one smaller rhinestone on the middle of the smaller butterfly.  I then placed two large rhinestones to the upper right and lower left corners of the card on the black embossed paper.

There you have it.   “DREAM” Butterfly Card.

I have had a few questions about cutting DCWV Glitter and shimmer paper on the Cricut Expression.  I use a very sticky mat, use pressure high, speed medium for the frilly butterfly/ high for basic cuts and blade depth of 6 with a multicut of 2.

Pop Top Birthday Gift

Pop Top Birthday Gift

Hi everyone!  As I said in my last post, Piano birthday card, I also made an altered project to give to my sister from my kids.  I altered a pop top soup can.

I got the idea and inspiration from Yoliebean.  You can view her video tutorial here.  She always has the best tutorials.  Be sure to check out a few while your there.

Here’s is my altered Pop Top Can:

Now, I was not able to open the bottom of my can because it has a rounded bottom, ie, Campbell’s Soup Can.  I did use my Pampered Chef’s can opener to cut the top off my can.  If you inspect the picture you can see the cut line it makes but your recipient probably will not notice.  I did glue the lid back on using Glossy Accents.  My sister was able to “pop” the top off with out the rim coming loose.  So either cutting the top or the bottom will work but for esthetics, the bottom would be prefered.

I was rushed for time to complete this one for my sister so I didn’t write anything down… sorry.  But don’t fret, I made another one and I took pics so follow along with me while I make this one :-)

*Start with a clean, dry pop top can.

*Cut the top off using a “safety” can opener.  One that would leave a smooth edge.  Mine is from Pampered Chef.

*Measure your can’s height and width.  Use the label you peeled off to make it easier.

*Pull your papers

*Gray and black shimmery paper from DCWV Luxury Stack.  Cut 9 inches long and 3 7/8 inches high

*Black textured paper (found in my stash) cut label shape only from the Cricut Imagine Teresa Collins Baby Boutique cartridge.  Bottom of page 7 at 3.2 inches

*Gray textured card stock (found in my stash) cut same label shape as above at 2.9 inches

* “P” monogram white card stock (see below for details)

*Cut piece of 2 inch wide silver ribbon at 9 inches. I also added  5/8 inch wide silver ribbon toward the end, 9 inches long.

*For the Monogram, I took a piece of white cardstock, 4×4, and ran through my Cuttlebug using the Divine Swirl Embossing folder

*Placed embossed white card stock on my Imagine mat

* “P” Monogram printed and cut from Cricut Imagine Teresa Collins Baby Boutique Cartridge, page 22 at 2.8 inches

The embossing adds a bit of texture

*Placed sticky tape to the edges of all papers/ribbon and pop dots to monogram

**You need a sticky tape to have a better hold.**

 * wrap background paper all the way around the can making sure to secure the ends

*Center the black label on the front of the can.

*Placed the wide silver ribbon around can, securing both ends at the back of the can over black label

*Centered and secured the textured gray label cut out next

*Centered the monogram and pressed firmly with the foam tape

**I decided I wanted another ribbon (5/8 inch silver ribbon)**

*I ran the 5/8 ribbon under the monogram and secured ends on the back of can with sticky tape

*Added Five half back black faux pearls (1 large, 1 medium  and 3 small) on each side of the monogram on the ribbon

*Placed 1 large flat back faux pearl  in each corner of the gray label

At this point, fill your can with crinkle paper, a gift card, candies… what ever you like.

*To secure the lid back in place.  Place a thin ribbon of Glossy Accents around the lip of the lid

**the part that will slide inside the can**

*Press firmly in place.  I turned the can upside down and placed a book on top to give weight while it dried  (this one is still empty)

There you have it.  A fun way to present a smaller gift.  After it has been opened, the recipient can then use it for a pencil holder… my sister’s idea :-) .  Her purple butterfly can sit’s proudly on her desk at work.

Sending Warm Fuzzies Card

Sending Warm Fuzzies Card

Hi everyone!  I thought I would share a card with you I made using the Cricut Create A Critter Cartridge and my Cricut Expression, incase you are looking for ideas for a winter type card.   I used this card as Christmas cards for my Brother and Sister but can be altered to use now.  The penguin has a scarf layer you can cut and replace the lights with the scarf… wa-la, a winter themed card just for you.

I used a standard white A2 size card base.  Layered with DWCV textured green paper with a snowflake pattern paper I purchased from Wal-Mart from their 97 cent area. I inked all papers with brown ink.

I believe the penguin and layers are cut at 3 or 3.5 inches.  I had to play around with sizing.. this guy has a really big head… haha.  I ran the white layer of the penguin through the Divine Swirl CuttleBug embossing folder.  The lights are from the reindeer cut on the Create A Critter.  I really don’t remember the sizing.  It was tricky to get the right size.  I used glossy accents to cover the light bulbs to give them shine as well as using Stickles on the eyes.

I stamped  all over the blue pattern paper and the penguin with a snowflake stamp  also from the 97 cent bin at Wal-Mart using white ink.

I ran a piece of white grosgrain ribbon around the pattern paper and popped the penguin over the ribbon and stamped “sending warm fuzzies” under him in brown ink. I used my ATG gun to adhere everything together.
